Will changing your mind also change your vote or is it too late for you?

by Jim Cathcart

You've had second thoughts if you are an Obama supporter. I know you have.
You couldn't be paying attention without seeing some very disturbing things about him.

But do you have the personal integrity and courage to "Change" your mind?
Are you so committed to "transformational change" and hating George Bush that you would elect a person whose presidency would likely set us back 200 years? Do you really believe that the bitterness and manipulation of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed will be mitigated by electing their co-conspirator?
Do you really think that 20 years of listening to Jeremiah Wright is not enough to pollute one's mind about America?
Do you truly believe that having NEVER held a leadership job that required running a large, complex organization still allows Obama to somehow be qualified for the most important and influential job on Earth?

You may not love John McCain, but you must vote for him. It is the only vote that will preserve America as the Founding Fathers crafted it.

The barrage of new revelations about Obama from all directions shows just how many people are terrified at the idea of him serving as President of the United States. Lots of folks have remained relatively silent up to now but the looming possibility of an Obama-Biden administration with Pelosi & Reed to magnify their effect is scaring the daylights out of us.

When you consider the legions of new court appointees and potentially three Supreme Court Justices coming from the far left, the legacy of that is more than a generation of reduced individual liberties, a boom in the legal profession, new laws, restrictions and legislation. That creates more required forms to fill out, less ability to say what you think, more limitations on doing what is right because of the potential for lawsuits, and much more government...which we must pay for.

We must keep America free from government domination.

Please vote for John McCain, even if you need to tell your friends that you voted for Obama.

BOHICA

BOHICA
(A message to my fellow Republicans)
by Jim Cathcart

In the corporal punishment days of high school we were required to bend over, place our hands on our knees and "take it" when the school officials administered punishment with a paddle. Judgement was swift and the sting of the paddle unavoidable. That pretty well kept the students in line. Negotiation was futile. "Justice" was inevitable. So we behaved ourselves, mostly.

On those occasions when we did misbehave, as soon as we were caught, our mantra was "BOHICA- Bend Over Here It Comes Again."
Well, my fellow Republicans, BOHICA!

We've lost the Senate and the House as well as many Statehouses. We've allowed our Democrat classmates to goad us into spending and defending (our actions) much to our own detriment. We've let them spread lies about us without challenge while they wallowed in the media for so long that folks have come to believe them.

Here we stand, the protectors of our Republic, and we have deserted our post. By caving in to their pressure for more government "solutions", we have abandoned the cause of personal liberty. Independence only comes from the capacity for SELF-reliance. We know that. Self-reliance cannot be provided via government. It is the abscence of governmental involvement that stimulates people to find their own solutions. Nobody ever became stronger by paying someone else to do their push-ups for them.

Somebody has to behave like a grown-up. It ought to be us. There must be some requests to which our answer is firmly "No!" When we refuse to say "No" to people, we raise spoiled, dependent, whining brats who demand more and more without ever taking care of themselves.

Ours needs to be the party with a spine. "Bi-partisanship" has created a monster this time. Of course, we have to cooperate and collaborate and compromise, but not as our Main Strategy! The main focus must always be toward producing a self-reliant electorate, not just a grateful one.

Yes, we have abandoned our Conservative base and in so doing we lost the leadership of our country. We lost because we didn't lead. We tried instead to appease the Democrats seeking more programs. Haven't we already learned that lesson elsewhere?

We are the party for: Less government, fewer taxes, strong national defense and a belief in the capacity of normal human beings to solve most of their own problems. That is who we are.

Entitlement junkies cannot be appeased. Instead they must be disempowered. Take away their access to the cookie jar and stop giving them cookies. Show them a better way! A way that lasts.

Republican party, I miss you. I miss your clarity of mission, your courage, your willingness to take the heat and get the job done. Please come back to the light. And, for now, BOHICA, bend over here it comes again.

Fear Itself

by Jim Cathcart

Fear generates fear. When we express our fears we add power to them. When that happens others pick up the beat and add their own fears to the mix.
Today we are witnessing the worldwide effects of sharing fear.
Courage has been defined not as the absence of fear but as "acting positively despite one's fears."
Courageous people are afraid too but they choose not to be defeated by it.
I recently had a personal experience with this. I went skydiving.
Yes, it was completely discretionary and a luxury that I chose over other more "sensible" things, but I had wanted to go parachuting all of my life and finally got a chance to do it. Obviously I survived the experience.
In reflection on the experience I've noticed that despite the presence of possible death by jumping I was able to handle the experience well. What I did was accept the possibility that it could be disastrous and then assess the odds of success. As I explored all the factors that could reassure me, I looked eagerly for "red flags" such as a cavalier attitude by the pilot or chute packer. Or carelessness on the part of my tandem jump partner. I examined everything about the operation from cleanliness to focus to efficiency. And seeing nothing alarming I committed to the jump.
Once in the plane I calmly said a prayer and then tried to soak in all the sights and sounds. When we sat in the door I placed my fate in the hands of God and my jump partner Victor. He thrust us out the door and then the choosing was over!
I savored the terrifying experience all the way down and landed safely, filled with the thrills of a lifetime.

What does this have to do with you and the economy? Fear is the same whether it is fear of falling to your death or dying in poverty. And courage is the same whether facing a Lion or a stock market. First we need to accept the reality of the threat.
Yes it exists and yes we are vulnerable to it. Denial will not work, nor would it help.
Second, we need to choose to go forward with our eyes and ears open. We need to choose the direction we will pursue and trust others but look carefully for "red flags."
Third, we need to commit to not sharing our fears with others. When we talk about what we fear we feed the fear. When others hear it, they become more afraid. When people feel fear they usually cut back and withdraw. That leads to more fear and worse conditions.
Fourth, we need to "move confidently in the direction of our goals." Stay alert and be willing to adapt but move ever forward not back.
Let Abundance Mentality guide you, not Scarcity. There will always be opportunities and needs and people will still build, sell and buy what they need. Life goes on and we will be fine but it may be uncomfortable for a while. So, step up, do what is needed. Don't worry about what is "not fair." Just get on with living and do what it takes to help as many people as you can.
Remember Zig Ziglar's famous line, "You can get everything you want in life if you just help enough other people get what they want."
